My first 35mm photography interest first began during my radiology residency (1972-1977), when I began to use a 35 mm camera to take slides (film) of x-rays so that were used for teaching purposes in the classroom.  That spawned my interest in family photography and ultimately wildlife and nature photography.

By the late 80's, my friend Dr. Michael Phelps (himself already a good photographer) began to encourage me to look at wild life and nature photography as a possible hobby.  He signed us up for my first official photography course, given by professional photographers, in Tucson AZ in 1990.

At that course Mike and I befriended one of our teachers, Patrick O'Hara, who was then a well known professional photographer, widely published in national park brochures, etc.  From that point forward the friendship with Pat grew into numerous photography trips across the US.  Whatever photography skill I may have, I attribute to Mike and Pat's instruction and encouragement over the last 35 years.  While Mike Phelps and I continue to photograph regularly together, unfortunately, in the last few years, Pat has been unable to join us for health reasons.

This website is a compilation images from my focused-photography trips in Indiana, Florida, and Michigan.  In addition, there are galleries from many trips Cheryl and I have made in the last 15 years.

Cheryl and I celebrated our 55th wedding anniversary August 9, 2024.  She is my biggest advocate, helping me by sharing my photography with family and friends. Over the last decade or two, Whenever we are on vacation, she always encourages me to do my photography-thing, which takes a little extra time along the way.
To you friends, I am
also grateful for the kind comments about my shared photography over the years.
